Platinum Unheated Ruby and Diamond Ring with GIA Report
I am late to the appreciation of diamonds but I have always been a admirer of sapphires and by extension rubies.
During a chat with a well-known gemologist recently, I asked about rubies and their current desirability. Imagine my surprise when she told me that in the current markets rubies are appreciating faster than any other gemstone.
I then did a deep dive into the world of rubies and found out many things that I did not know about their rarity, desirability and incredible value.
Like diamonds, they come in many clarities, but colour has to be fairly consistent. Of course, that colour is red. Anything else and they are no longer rubies, but sapphires.
Rubies can be opaque, translucent or transparent, and are subject to inclusions like any other gemstone. The most valuable are transparent; the least are the opaques. Most importantly, size matters. Rubies of one CTW and more are incredibly rare.
This ruby is a beauty. It is just over one karat, and has good colour and vibrancy. The halo of diamonds and the ring itself further compliment the feature stone.
It comes with a GIA report and a proper replacement value report as well, so it is nicely documented and a very good value as well.
