Platinum Ruby Cabochon and Diamond Ring with GIA Certification
 
I was in conversation with a very accomplished gemologist who commented that while diamonds are appreciating steadily, and tanzanite has never lived up to its hype, it is rubies which are appreciating at a dizzying pace.
 
Research on this proved it to me, and a natural fascination with these deep red stones set me on the quest for rubies of significance.
 
I have purchased a few up until this point, but none quite like this one.
 
For a start, translucent rubies of over a karat are extraordinarily rare. This one weighs in at 9.45 CTW making it truly spectacular, and it is in an entirely appropriate setting, with fine ornamentation and a halo of diamonds acting almost as if they are ladies in waiting surrounding their queen.
 
A dramatic stone and a fine piece of jewelry.
