DESCRIPTION
 
An exceptional friction-propelled tin toy by the Japanese toy manufacturer Alps. This car is unusual as it has a driver, which was not featured in many Alps toy cars. Some of these toy cars have as many as 175 separate parts, all hand-assembled on small production lines. All were made of very thin stamped steel sheet, generally in three pieces (main body, roof, and chassis plate) that were then painted like a full-size car. These toys were exported from Japan for the North American market.
